INTERNATIONAL DANCE PROGRAM
Varium Program 23/24
from the October 2nd, 2023 to June 14th, 2024

SCHEDULE
PROGRAM
TECHNICAL BASIS
Using techniques like release, floor work, acrobatics and others, we work on body awareness that helps us to understand the organic functioning of our own body and teach us how to prevent or minimize eventual injuries. Concepts like the center, the axis, connections and alignment are part of the working plan.
CONTEMPORARY DANCE
With the base rooted in modern dance (Cunningham, Graham, Limón Horton and Release), body awareness, chorographical research and the fusion with other disciplines, today’s contemporary dance is in constant evolution. The contemporary teachers of Varium transmit a clear technical base, enabling the students to find a maximum of freedom in the movements. Balance, off-balance, floor work, maximizing the use of space and presence are a strong part of the working plan.
CLASSICAL TECHNIQUE
Ballet is an important part of the technical basis. Its methodic structure brings coordination, velocity of the legs, precision and clearness in the movement, all very interesting for the vocational training of a dancer. The goal of these classes is to enable the dancer to learn or better understand the classical technique. First starting at the barre and then in the center, the methodic structure helps develop precision, clearness and gives them the opportunity to explore and understand the principles of alignment, body geometry and a stronger anchoring into the floor.
CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
This is the time dedicated to creative work like choreography and improvisation. We are constantly searching to improve individual creativity and transmit tools that help every student find their place. Some workshops are dedicated to the creation of choreographies that will be performed in public helping to develop more stage confidence.
OTHER SUBJECTS
Improvisation, floor work, partnering, acrobatics, choreographic composition, anatomy.
